Self balancing robots 2007

Run, Forest, Run !
For some explanations, please read this.

In two years I'm retired !

Living in a rich country, with a low income (compared to the national average, and compared to the expected income for my socio-economic level) and with a low standard of life (young man, no family, small apartment, no car) I have been able to save a considerable amount of money.

If I lived with the world average of monthly income, my two year savings would allow me to do not work during 20 years. This means, that keeping the same saving rate during two more years , I would have enough money to live during 40 years without any additional income. Given my current age, this is long enough to reach my expected death time.

So basically, I keep working as I am, and in two years I could retire, and live the rest of my life as an average man.

This fact, allows me to wake each morning and smile remembering how rich I am!

ps: I'm not citing the actual calculation to avoid publishing so obviously my annual income, this is left as an exercise to the motivated reader.

Chile Inside ?

When you read in the news "that the world will change thanks to the super product X", I adquired the reflex to check up when ever this solution is sustainable or not. So when I read in the news yet another great use of Li-ion batteries*, I did a checkup about how abundant is the resource, how can we have a closed cycle for this product, how much energy is required to produce this batteries, and so on ...

The surprise was that Chile is the world leader producer of Lithium, something I never heard of... So actually there are chances that my cell phone, pda, or my laptop are "Chile Inside" enabled.

* Incredibly this technology was invented by Mr. GoodEnough

St Valentin

While staying in Las Palmas for the Cybercars2 meeting I saw (part of) De-Lovely. There I found this song, that clearly fits this "commercial but romantic" period of the year, I saw plenty of "men with flowers" in Paris tonight.
