Presentations
An important task of a researcher is to share the ideas he produces. Thus during my PhD I'm trying to put serious effort in enhancing my communication skills. Up to now I tend to have positive comparative feedback on my work. But in this field experience is the master and much still to be learn.
My principal source of information and reflection about communication is the excellent Presentation Zen blog, I strongly recommend it to anyone who is exposed to one to many informations exchange.
Just to get your interest, here is an interesting presentation recently analyzed at Presentation Zen.

Spring arrives at Paris, everyone follows
Respecting my new year resolution and learning the lessons of Bernardo's visit, I'm going through a search for the music/art underground in Paris. Looking for "eventos kutres".
I recently a good source of information for events in Paris: Last.fm.
Yes, the well known, oldy last.fm. I never noticed that they had added an "events" section, and it is great ! You just indicate your current location and it will recommend you near concerts based on the music that you hear. Wonderful !
Of course you can also just browse for "all the events in Paris" and be overwhelmed by the tens of events per day flowing through the streets of Paris.
Incredibly this month it looks like my entire music playlist is coming to Paris.
Just to mention a few, we have this month:
- Josephine Foster (see videos below)
- Julie Doiron
- Thomas Dybdahl
- Marissa Nadler (myspace)
- Nouvelle Vague
- Joanna Newsom
- Cocorosie
- Gotan Project
Some of the missing artists I will have to wait for are Diane Cluck, Anthony, and the next concert of Joanna Newsom (too sad, no more tickets available).
Unfortunately I'm not available or rich enough to see all the concerts. However last week I went to see Josephine Foster, and I have entries for some spectacles next week.
Here are some videos taken with my photo camera (so the sound is not great), just to give you a glance of what this concerts looks like.
During that concert I met "Nicolas" who is part of the SDZ records initiative. He also keeps a blog about weekly rock, folk, punk (and similar) concerts in Paris, nice info too.
Clearly, Paris is much more enjoyable in sumer time !
