Song of the day

From the great latest album of Feist, thanks Feist !

Lyrics are ok, the song is great. Keeps me "on the beat" all day long.

"""
I feel it all I feel it all
The wings are wide, the wings are wide
"""

"""
Fly away
Fly away to what you want to make
"""

"""
I'll be the one who'll break my heart
I'll end it thought you started it

The truth lies
The truth lied
And lies divide
"""

Fitna

A 17 minutes movie creates hours of debate.
You can see the movie here.
"""
You can say what you want, assume the consequences.
"""

After seeing the movie I can comment:
- The movie, independent of the content, is quite bad. The director seems to be a drop off of cinema school.
- I really do not think this movie should be censured. It present an argument that can be debated upon.
- The most offensive part of the movie (from my point of view): the tearing of the Qu'ran, is clearly indicated as "an audiovisual effect only" (which is interesting at many levels).

Enjoy freedom.

journalists suck

how it comes that the average level of journalism has become so, so low ?

EETimes title: "Silicon compound superconducts at room temperature"
Article content:
"If you put hydrogen compounds under enough pressure, you can get superconductivity," said professor John Tse of the University of Saskatchewan. "These new superconductors can be operated at higher temperatures, perhaps without a refrigerant."

Shame on you.

In general I'm very deceived of the "bias towards the negative or the bootless" of the world dominant media. For every bad news there is an equivalent good news that is never shown. For every sikness there is a doctor fighting it, for every war there are people working for peace, for every tragedy there are persons working to prevent it; yet all of this positive efforts remain in silence.

1984

Through Presentation Zen I got to find one more wonderful TED talk. If you never heard of TED I compel you to visit their web site as soon as possible.
This talk shows how much 1984 was like 2008 and how in the eyes of few the revolution was an evolution.
I particularly like the final section about reading and writing, arguing about why the OLPC project makes sense (or not).
